Sinn Féin condemn payment of 1 billion euro to bondholders as "national treachery"

Speaking after a unsecured AIB Bondholder was paid €1 billion on Monday, North Wexford Sinn Féin spokesperson Fionntán Ó Súilleabháin said:

"Yesterday (Monday) the Fine Gael/Labour Government allowed another €1 BILLION of our money to be paid to unsecured bondholders - wealthy individuals and institutions who gambled and lost - thus penalising the Irish people and attacking our health and education and social welfare and housing and local government services. they have impoverished this nation and condemned this and future generations to mass unemployment and emigration. And in the face of this scandal what had Enda Kenny got to say for himself? He plays the old threadbare card "Gerry Adams was in the IRA" -a pathetic distraction. As if this would trump the national treachery for which Kenny and his cohorts are responsible. Its long past time that his party's local representatives raised their voices against this national treachery"
